2015 C5 Limited Edition (2.2 litre) Tasmania

Post by wfdTamar » 02 Oct 2019, 19:56

Hi. My first car back in 1980 was nearly a used GS estate, but my mum vetoed that :-)

Always fancied a DS (who doesn’t?) after a ride in one back then too.

Anyway, finally got a 2015 C5 Limited Edition. This is a 2.2 litre (150kw) model. Not sure if it was sold in the UK. Possibly with different nomenclature. 19” wheels, better audio system than the standard 2 litre model. There were only 30 or 40 sold in Australia. All sedans unfortunately (I much prefer estates).

It’s done 127000 km which is up there for a four year old vehicle and means timing belt is due soon (9 years or 135000 km here). They have a 6 year, unlimited km warranty here, but the 4-6th year are handled by a third party company (reputedly difficult). It’s 12000 km overdue for a service (unless the last one wasn’t put in the book). I’m tempted to do the services myself, particularly given how expensive timing belt ones are and I’ve done them before, but that would void the warranty. Hopefully there’s nothing tricky about these engines.

Hi and welcome.

The audio units were dependent upon trim level and options specified, not on engine size.

The timing belts are 10 years for age related changes, or dependent upon engine type. Like all of these modern engines, it is essential to ensure you use a locking pin. Citroen do 3 variations of kit for the timing service; belt only, belt and tensioner & dynamic rollers and finally all the previous with water pump and gasket.

I strongly suggest you get the full kit, it made a huge difference on mine after having it fitted especially with the pulleys - much quieter!

For most cars wisdom says do the water pump while doing the timing belt kit. Is the pump ok to get to? Is there an online workshop manual?

I'll need your VIN to determine the exact engine you have before I can see if I have the correct procedure or not.

VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Do you know if the cheapo wheel centre caps are worth bothering with (60mm, black background with chevrons)? The only genuine ones I've seen are $35 (£20) each posted here.

Ok, so I do have the procedure for this model - but it's not walk in the park on this engine - the engine needs supporting - but f you want this, let me know as I have to create a post here.

Could be easier if you let me know your source (I'll probably need it for other things) - if it's a particular manual it might be better if I get that. That's if it's one available to the public. Failing that - yes I'd like to know how to do it thanks.

Update:

I have created a procedure for the Timing Belt for this vehicle in the 'How To' section for registered members:

viewtopic.php?t=63621

Members are asked to post any further technical questions in the main forums and not in the introduction section, thanks.
