Hello all

Post by 205 gti » 26 Jan 2013, 21:57

Hi - just joined from Dublin.

I bought a UK 205 Gti 1.9 last year and have reregistered the car here - the guy I bought the car off had lost all paperwork and MOT records - is there anyway of getting copies as I would like to have the history.

Currently stripping all exterior trim getting ready for a "paint correction" "wet buff" - car is 1990 red (pinkish!).

Used Plasticare on trim and has come up very well - not sure how long it will last or should I put another coat on?

Welcome :-D

I had a 205GTi for a good few years in my younger days; a car I enjoyed immensely and still regret selling...

Too old for one now :(

A fully functional version of Citroens' recent concept supercar? With all costs covered?

Oh, come on, that's unfair. All Citroens are fully functional, it's just we don't always recognise that. Some function perfectly as a means of transport, others function just as well as a means of raising the blood pressure.

Nope, in a past life maybe but I have my trinity of Citroens and no changes or additions to that trio are planned...

Even though I'd love a GS/A but it isn't going to happen...

Back in the day, and in the hands of someone who knew how to drive one, the 205GTI (1.9) was as quick as anything on the road.

Reminising to the mid 90's the 1.9 GTI was the only 'hot hatch' that could give my old 90's Honda Integra a work out. Escort RS Turbos and Astra GTEs were a worthy pray for the Honda at the lights, but not on the twisty bits. The 205 GTI was a different animal.

Be nice to see that old Honda of mine again - the only car I have ever owned that liked to be 'driven' (although with a narrow power band between 4500 and 7000 rpm it needed to be 'driven', and the low geared close ratio sports box made motorway driving a loud and thirsty experience).

Anyway, hope you have some fun with the 205 - just dont get tempted to remortgage the house to pay for the restoration / mods!
