Citroën 2005 c5 gps?

This is the RT3 unit and was made by Magneti Marelli
The RT3 was available in a few different hardware versions, the later ones supporting MP3 playback. These units had an optical connection to the Display Screen.

Citroën 2005 c5 gps?

Post by Mount Beauty George » 21 Jan 2020, 22:08

Hello everyone, I'm a first time poster from Australia and look forward to seeing good stuff on here. I have a small house in France where I'm lucky enough to be able to visit for about 3 months each year. The day before I left last year I was donated a 2005 c5 by an old couple who had become too old to use the car. I had one quick look at it before it was garaged until my return to France in May. From what I remember the car had a display on the top of the dashboard and I thought it may have had a gps type system in it? If that is correct, then the gps is faulty. So, really sorry to be so long winded about this, but am I correct and if so is it possible to replace the unit with a vague guestimate of cost? Many thanks in advance, George.

Hi, and :welc: to the forum. If you want to know everything about your car please post the VIN here (it will automatically be obscured so only Forum staff can read it), and a Moderator will then be able to look her up on the Citroen systems, let you know what she had when she rolled out of the factory, and what things may be possible to do to upgrade her.

Hi and welcome.

For the year and model that sounds like the RT3 Navidrive system. Without knowing the fault it will be hard to diagnose, but in either case these units are a rare as Hen's teeth now. They may, depending upon the fault be repairable - several places (one in Spain) that repair the RTx units. 'Autronics' - You'd have to send it off to them, where there is an examination fee regardless and then they will provide an estimate for repair.

Many thanks Mark, the VIN number will have to wait until I get back to France as the paperwork for the vehicle is in storage. Your advice is much appreciated but I think Google Maps will be a much cheaper option!

When you have more time and if you have a Lexia, get the fault codes and that may give me a better idea of what its not happy about. Could be the tuners, or a bad GPS aerial connection etc. so not necessarily doomed! :-D
